Imported Cattle: No Sale Without Medical Checkup

BANGLADESH - The authorities concerned at a meeting took a decision not to sell imported cattle in any local market across the country before conducting medical checkups of the cattle.

Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock arranged a workshop on cattle diseases and safer cattle fodder at Benapole Customs Auditorium where lawmaker Sheikh Afil Uddin was present as the chief guest.

The Daily Star reports that the officials at the workshop took a decision that no cattle will enter any of the markets before having a medical checkup.

Chaired by Deputy Director of livestock department Dr Mohammad Nasir Uddin, the workshop was attended by Jessore Customs Commissioner Shawkat Hossain, Commanding Officer of BGB 49 Battalion Lt Col Ariful Haque, Benapole Press Club President Mohsin Milon and customs official Mahbub Hossain.
