The free one-day event will examine a number of topics, including support being given to the trade, as well as recent successes and future prospects for exports.

The conference, taking place Bramham Hall, Wetherby Racecourse, on Wednesday 16 May, will also provide an ideal opportunity for those involved with the red meat industry in the region to find out more about the work of EBLEX.

Speakers will include Peter Mitchell, purchasing manager of OSI Food Solutions, talking about the challenge of supplying McDonald’s, one of the world’s biggest users of beef, and Vion livestock development manager Peter Morris, giving a processor’s view of current and future opportunities. The conference will also feature EBLEX marketing manager (Quality Schemes) Laura Bishop who will look at EBLEX’s work helping the trade to deliver what consumers require, and an industry review from EBLEX sector director Nick Allen.

“Our inaugural northern conference is the ideal forum to bring together a diverse range of experts from the industry to discuss successes, prospects and challenges,” said Clive Brown, EBLEX senior regional manager – northern region.

“It follows our successful south west conference, held earlier this year. By holding these events in the major beef and lamb producing regions, we are able to reach more of our levy payers. Not only does it give us the chance for us to hear about the issues affecting them, but it also gives levy payers the opportunity to meet the EBLEX team and find out about the work we’re doing domestically and internationally to help them maximise returns.”
