Print This Page China Reports More Foot and Mouth Disease
CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Guizhou.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 19 yesterday, 7 April. According to the report, the affected population consists of cattle, sheep/goats and swine.
A total of 252 cattle were found susceptible to the disease, out of which 87 cases were identified. 12 deaths were recorded and the remaining 240 were destroyed.
In the case of pigs, 421 animals were found susceptible to the disease, out of which 4 cases were identified. Two deaths were recorded, and the remaining 419 animals were destroyed.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
