Pedigreed Aberdeen-Angus Producer Shares Success Story

01 October 2014

ANALYSIS - Neil Wattie, owner of Tonley Aberdeen-Angus Farm in Scotland, shares how his family got started in the Aberdeen Angus business along with the growth and success of their pedigreed breeding herd, reports Sarah Mikesell from Scotland.

Mr. Wattie spoke to a group of agricultural journalists at his farm near Mains of Tonley, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, about how his dad's decision to buy a few Aberdeen-Angus cattle changed their operation.

"My dad decided to buy Aberdeen-Angus, and I have to say I was a wee bit concerned," he said. "He bought three cows in England and they were a bit more traditional. And before long, I was hooked on them as well."

A selection shown below, Wattie's pedigreed herd is award-winning, and their stock all rank in the top third (or higher) in terms of performance.
