Foot and Mouth Disease Reported in Swine

CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Xinjiang.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 17 on Monday, 28 February. In this outbreak, the affected population consists of pigs.

According to the report, a total of 3941 animals have been found susceptible to the disease, out of which 275 cases were reported. All susceptible animals were destroyed.

The source of the outbreak has not yet been identified.
