This publication details the latest national statistics produced by Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs on the slaughter of cattle, sheep and pigs, dressed carcase weights and meat production taken from surveys of slaughterhouses run by the UK Agricultural Departments.

UK Slaughter Statistics

UK prime cattle slaughterings for July 2014 were 177,000 head and beef and veal production was 79,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for June 2014 were 150,000 head and beef and veal production was 66,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for March 2014 were 154,000 head and beef and veal production was 69,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for November 2013 were 158,000 head and beef and veal production was 71,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for October 2013 were 196,000 head and beef and veal production was 87,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for August 2013 were 132,000 head and beef and veal production was 58,000 tonnes.

Beef and veal production was 74 thousand tonnes, 3.6 per cent lower than in November 2011.

Beef and veal production was 92 thousand tonnes, 1.7 per cent lower than in October 2011.

UK prime cattle slaughterings were 8.1 per cent lower than in August 2011 at 143 thousand head.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for July 2012 were 178,000 head and beef and veal production was 81,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for June 2012 were 144,000 head and beef and veal production was 64,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings were 8 per cent lower than in May 2011 at 156 thousand head.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for March 2012 were 157,000 head and beef and veal production was 68,000 tonnes.

UK prime cattle slaughterings for January 2012 were 185,000 head.
