The new event, which builds on last year’s successful grass research day, will take place at Harper Adams University, in Shropshire, on 27 June. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear from experts involved in a range of projects that combine science with practical on-farm advice to help beef producers develop their businesses.

Projects featured will include work on improving liver fluke control in cattle, driving business improvement using key performance indicators and targeting suckler cow nutrition using body condition scoring. There will be a review of recent beef finishing research at Harper Adams and information on getting better performance from cattle at grass.

The agenda also includes a presentation by Dr Robert Prendiville, a researcher from Teagasc (the agricultural research and advisory board for Ireland), about his work on developing profitable dairy beef production systems.

Mary Vickers, AHDB Beef & Lamb Senior Scientist, said: “This day is a great opportunity for beef producers to learn more about the latest beef research AHDB is investing in and take away some practical solutions to apply on their own farms.”

This event helps address AHDB’s strategic priority of accelerating innovation and productivity growth through coordinated research & development and knowledge exchange.
