The world’s biggest beef exporter reached 1.045 million tons in August, taking volume over 10 per cent ahead of 2013, according to Brazilian Association of Meat Export Industries (ABIEC) figures for January to August.

Shipments for the period earned $4.75 billion, 13 per cent more than the $4.1 billion earned last year.

"With these results, Brazil consolidates its position as the largest supplier of beef in the world market,” said ABIEC President Antonio Jorge Camardelli.

He listed market developments that had facilitated beef trade for Brazil this year.

“The end of the Chinese embargo and qualification of new plants for export to Russia as well as Iran and Egypt lifting the embargo of Mato Grosso meat have been positive.”
