More FMD Reported in Tunisian Cattle, Sheep and Goats09 July 2014
TUNISIA - Four new outbreaks of foot and mouth disease have been reported in three regions in northern and central Tunisia.
The veterinary authority sent Follow Up Report No. 7 dated 7 July to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE).
Between 18 June and 1 July, four new outbreaks of FMD were confirmed on farms in the regions of Sidi Bouzid, Mannouba and Beja.
In total, 17 cattle were affected, seven of which showed symptoms, as well as 96 sheep (10 showed signs) and 24 goats, three of which were cases.
According to the report, none of the animals died or was slaughtered.
The cases were attributed to the illegal movement of animals.
