Brazilian Beef Expansion Linked to North Africa and Asia

BRAZIL – Expansion in Asian and north African markets is why market experts are tipping Brazil for a beef boom amounting to $6 million by the end of 2013.

More Brazilian beef goes to Hong Kong that any other destination, the Ministry of Agriculture and Supply has revealed.

This is expected to remain the case after exports increased by 68 per cent on 2012 shipments through the first half of the year.

Iran posted an impressive 98 per cent growth on 2012 figures. 

Algerian exports grew by 60 per cent. 

Fresh beef sales are worth $2.4 billion a year and amount to 524,900 tons..
