FMD: Three Futher Outbreaks Confirmed in South East Zimbabwe

ZIMBABWE – Three new outbreaks of foot and mouth disease have been confirmed in the Chiredzi area of Masvingo, in the south east of the country.

The World Organisation for Animal Health has been notified of over 400 cases in cattle. In the village of Masapasi, 141 cattle have been diagnosed while over in Levanga, 48 cases have been identified.

Most serious is the village of Gudo, with 2,045 susceptible cattle in the vicinity and 215 cases.

No animals have been destroyed as of yet. The cause if thought to be contact with wild animals species.
