Mandatory Registration Bill Gets Approval

UKRAINE – Documentation stipulating all food production livestock has to be identified and registered as part of a national mandatory scheme has been ratified by the government.

The bill, ‘On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the identification and registration of animals’ applies to private systems where livestock is reared for home consumption.

Livestock owners not engaged in entrepreneurial activities will receive compensation and support to facilitate in the recording of animals.

The bill ‘On amendments to some legislative acts of Ukraine regarding the identification and registration of animals’ aims to satisfy EU legislation  

Non-compliance with the new legislation will be punished with fines.

The rules come as part of government action to appease European Union livestock safety and competition requirements.
