OIE: Bluetongue Outbreak on Samos
GREECE - Mr Spiros Doudounakis, Directorate General of Veterinary Services , Ministry of Rural Development and Food has reported a Bluetongue outbreak on the island of Samos.

The outbreak, found in sheep on the island, has so far had 20 cases with 38 susceptible cases detailed in the report. Mr Doudounakis has reported the outbreak has been responsible for 20 livestock deaths.
The report stated the morbidity and mortality rate as being 52.63 per cent and could not state the source/origin of the infection.
According to Mr Doudounakis, Quarantine, Movement control inside the country, Screening and Zoning have all been measures applied to control the outbreak. He stated that vaccinatino is prohibited and a 'modified stmaping out' process will occur.
