Australian Beef Production Higher in July
AUSTRALIA - Australian beef production increased during July, underpinned by a rise in adult cattle slaughter.

Total beef production for the month increased nine per cent year-on-year, to 175,512 tonnes cwt, with total adult cattle slaughter up nine per cent over the same period, to 614,274 head.
All states except New South Wales (34,817 tonnes cwt) recorded a year-on-year increase in beef production during July, with an 11 per cent rise registered in both Queensland (93,058 tonnes cwt) and Victoria (27,107 tonnes cwt). Average carcase weights improved slightly across all states, reflecting the favourable conditions over the past year, with the national average adult carcase weight at 286 kg/head cwt for the month.
Queensland slaughter accounted for 50 per cent of the July total, rising 11 per cent year-on-year, to 307,780 head. Total female slaughter for July increased five per cent year-on-year, to 271,641 head – only the third monthly year-on-year rise since the beginning of 2011.
