OIE Declares Brazil, Colombia BSE Risk Negligible

BRAZIL & COLOMBIA - The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has said that Brazil and Colombia will be recognised as a country that offers negligible risk for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).

They will join 15 other countries who also have a negligible risk of BSE.

This announcement will help facilitate the resumption of trade with the EU, the export of live animals and raw meat on the bone, says the Brazilian Association of Meat Exporters (ABIEC).

The Colombian Agricultural Institute (ICA) has said that this announcement has strengthened the country's status on the global markets.
