UK cattle breed societies have helped organise the visit, with particular help from the Galloway Cattle Society.

The group visiting are mainly interested in hill and mountain breeds of cattle and particularly dual purpose breeds (dairy beef) or breeds that have been dual purpose in their not so distant past.

Of particular interest are hardy Scottish Breeds, Galloway, Highland and Angus with also interest in Simmentals given their original development in the Swiss Alps.

Armenian visitors are in the process of selecting Galloway cattle for a project based near Halavar in the high border region between Armenia, Georgia and Azabaijan.

Two members of the mission, from Latvia and Poland have already established Galloway farms and looking for additional animals. Georgian guests are from their Ministry and seek new solutions for their own hill and mountain regions.

The Polish Group is drawn from leaders of the newly established QMP Quality Assurance Programme. Their main interest is in cross breeding British and Continental Bulls with the Polish National Dairy Herd.
