Four events took place, incorporating the co-marketing of Portugese wine, and included one in Lisbon which attracted 200 guests and was supported by chef Luis Baena.

Another 300 people attended a similar reception in the Algarve, while a further two events were held in northern Portugal and the initial response has been encouraging.

Jean-Pierre Garnier, EBLEX export manager, said: “Our beef comes from selected cattle, is processed with the highest care for eating quality and is matured on the bone. While it is premium end for the Portuguese market, it fulfils a need for consistent quality beef for the best restaurants.

“The first orders have been encouraging and we also have some retail potential with the premium supermarkets in the tourist areas. This successful launch forms part of a larger campaign to develop sales of premium beef with the European food service sector.”
