Mexico Bans Genetic Imports from EU

MEXICO - Taking precautionary measures against Schmallenberg, Mexico has followed the US and Uruguay in suspending the imports of livestock genetics from the EU.

The Mexican Ministry of Agriculture has said that once more scientific evidence on Schmallenberg transmission has been determined it will review the import ban.

The Spanish Livestock Association (FEGAS) has expressed disappointment in this decision.
