Agriculture, Livestock & Fish Exports Double

CHILE - INEGI, the National Institute of Statistic and Geography, reported that agriculture, livestock and fish exports in September totaled $617 million, an increase of over 50 per cent.

Of all the products, shrimp saw the biggest increase.

SAGARPA reported that agriculture and livestock exports from January to September reached $16.819 billion in September.

Current growth rate estimates in $21 billion the closing of sales by the end of 2011.

INEGI informed that agriculture, livestock and fish exports registered an increased of 50.5 per cent in annual rate (compared to same period in the last year) to total $ 617 million in September 2011.

According to Appropriate Information of the Mexican Balance of Trade Report, fish and mollusk exports went up by 66.7 per cent and frozen shrimp by 122.7 per cent in September 2011.

INEGI indicated that agriculture, livestock and fish sales to other countries totaled $ 7.835 billion from January to September 2011. It represents 23.2 per cent more than the same period in 2010.

SAGARPA reported that agricultural and food exports, which include agriculture, livestock and fish exports, from January to September reached $16.819 billion from January to September 2011. It means there was an increase by 23,9 per cent in comparison to the same period last year.

Regarding the data mentioned above, Ernesto Fernández Arias, Deputy Secretary for Development in Agricultural Business, indicated that current growth rate allows them to adjust upwards 2011 closing of sales reaching $21 billion.
