Dr Condas was selected from six excellent candidates from four continents. She received her DVM from Pontifica Universidade Católica do Paraná, Brazil and did her MSc at Universidade Estadual Paulista.

Dr Condas was selected based on a combination of her educational background and experience, her research plans and her potential for further development. The €10.000 grant that accompanies the award will help her to increase knowledge and experience during a one year stay at the department of Production Animal Health of the University of Calgary, Canada.

Dr Condas is interested in bovine production as related to public health. Her research work in Canada will be focused on streptococcal mastitis and will be fitted in the frame of the Canadian Bovine Mastitis Research Network. She will be supervised by proffesor, Dr Barkema.

In 2012 the Gustav Rosenberger award will again be presented for postgraduate studies in bovine medicine. All veterinarians with an interest in bovine medicine can apply. Candidates preferably come from a country or area with suboptimal possibilities for further development of bovine medicine.

The grant has to be used for an educative period of at least three months, which is intended to improve the candidates knowledge on bovine veterinary medicine by following courses or doing research. The 2012 award will be presented in Lisbon at the 27th World Buiatrics Congress (7 to 8 June 2012). Deadline for the submission is 1 April 2012

When you are a young promising veterinarian interested in bovine medicine, or when you are a potential supervisor interested in hosting such a veterinarian please contact the Fund.
