Fifteen members of the 60-strong club, made up of key opinion formers and red meat specialists from the French Food industry, visited a farm, an abattoir, a meat processing unit, a butcher’s shop and a steak restaurant to gain a greater insight into the English supply chain.

The EBLEX Quality Standard scheme for beef and lamb provides a guarantee of assurance, including safety, animal welfare and care for the environment to ensure customer satisfaction.

The ‘Rosbifs Club’ was set up by EBLEX to help promote quality beef and lamb to influential food industry figures in France. It arranges regular visits for members to see the English quality supply chain in action and taste the products.

Benoît Bordier, chef cuisinier, said: “It was a pleasure to sample such tasty, succulent, steak cuts. The quality of the beef demonstrated the passion of the operators in the supply chain.”

Hugh Judd, EBLEX foodservice project manager, said: “With some of the best restaurants in the world in France, we wanted to make sure that as well as showing them the high standards required within an English assured supply chain, they also had a fantastic dining experience.”
