Print This Page Four Outbreaks of FMD in Cattle and Swine
NORTH KOREA - The North Korean veterinary authorities have reported four new outbreaks of foot and mouth disease in cattle and swine.The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 2 yesterday, 18 April.
A total of 22 cases were reported in cattle, out of which one death was recorded. In the case of swine, 270 cases were identified, out of which 140 deaths were recorded.
No vaccination has been done, the report states. Infected cases are isolated and have been under treatment.
Samples collected are planned to be delivered to Pirbright laboratory, United Kingdom.
The source of the outbreak remains inconclusive.
