The ginger group has said that the MLA's marketing and resarch and development has failed.

The ABA has made two submissions to the Productivity Commission Enquiry into Rural R&D.

The ABA said that it estimates MLA has spent A$700 million on R&D and commissioned about 4,000 projects.

However, the cattlemen claim that the MLA can only identify 575 projects and ABA can locate less than 400 completed reports in the MLA R&D data base.

Now according to a report on ABC, the beef association has collected a petition with the necessary 100 signatures to have a resolution to abolish Meat and Livestock Australia debated at the MLA's annual meeting.

The ABA has made similar calls for the abolition of ABA in the past.

This motion will be heard at the annual meeting in November.
