China Reports New FMD Outbreak

CHINA - The Chinese veterinary authorities have reported a new outbreak of foot and mouth disease (FMD).

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) received follow-up report no. 14 yesterday, 2 August.

According to the report, the outbreak took place at Chengdong village in Gansu. While no cattle were affected, 32 were found susceptible to the disease. In the case of swine, 28 animals were found affected while 184 showed signs of susceptibility. All animals have been destroyed.

The cause of the outbreak is still unknown.
