ABA Claims Vindication over RFID Stance
AUSTRALIA - The Australian Beef Association has said that its fight against a mandatory RFID NLIS in Australia, has now been fully vindicated.

ABA chairman Brad Bellinger said that the recently announced decision of the USDA to abandon the idea of mandatory RFID NLIS in favour of a less expensive, state based scheme, makes the MLA, the Departmental Officers and Cattle Councillors, who all insisted that Australia must have a mandatory RFID NLIS because the USA were going to have it, appear "dishonest and foolish".
Mr Bellinger said: "The ABA is proud to have assisted their US counterpart organisation R-CALF USA and other concerned beef producers to stop the madness of mandatory RFID NLIS.
"ABA Directors Linda Hewitt, Athol Economou, John Carter (twice) and I, have visited the US and explained to their producers the truth about the Australian RFID NLIS farce."
Mr Bellinger added: "They listened, enlisted the internet and turned up in tens of thousands to the USDA hearings, to oppose the costly and flawed Australian RFID scheme, and unlike Australia, their concerns were heard and respected."
ABA said it has recommended the individually numbered tail tag scheme as the most effective mandatory scheme in the World.
