JBS S.A. Denies Involvement in Meatpacker Crimes
BRAZIL - Having been put under investigation by Brazil's federal prosecutor's office, JBS S.A. representatives immediately denied any involvement in the crimes.
The Brazilian beef giant announced that the federal police visited one of the company's meat plants in Porto Velho, Rondonia, with a warrant to search and collect certain documents.
Investigators collected documents including audit reports and licenses of operations. No electronic data storage devices, computers or equipment was seized, the company said, “due to a lack of evidences that any crime was committed.”
In a statement released Wednesday by the company, it “affirms that it does not have any involvement in crimes associated with this Federal Superintendence of Agriculture investigation in the state of Rondonia, or in any other state.”
The company has also said that it intends to fully cooperate with the enquiry at all times.
