Europe to Buy Beef from Minas Gerais
BRAZIL - The Ministry of Agriculture said yesterday (26/11) that the EU approved the measure that will allow the Mato Grosso do Sul return to export beef in nature to the block.
According to the Ministry, from December 1 next, cattle from Mato Grosso do Sul and the entire state of Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso can be slaughtered for export to the EU, reports ScotConsultoria.
Even as the ministry, the clearance of these areas by the EU represents approximately 40 million additional cattle that may have be delivered to the European market if they are coming from rural establishments adopted in Sisbov (Eras).
With the measure, the number of properties certified to provide animals for export of beef to the EU in nature can grow. Today, they are 608 properties, located in Espirito Santo, Goias, Paraná, Rio Grande do Sul, São Paulo, Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso.
The decision took in October by the EU enables the regions north and south of Mato Grosso, 287 municipalities from Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso do Sul, with the exception of the surveillance range of 15 km in Brazilian territory along the border with Paraguay, according to the ministry.
