Red Meat and a New Scottish Food Policy
SCOTLAND, UK - The Scottish government's latest initiative to boost the agricultural industry with a National Food and Drink policy had been praised by Quality Meat Scotland.QMS Chairman Donald Biggar said: “It’s an exciting time for Scotland’s different food industries and QMS looks forward to working with the Scottish Government to help realise our shared ambition for what the new Food and Drink Policy can deliver.
“The main themes and new measures that have been identified as part of the next steps phase look extremely interesting and relevant as far as the red meat industry is concerned and we look forward to hearing more about them.
“We would reiterate though our primary message to the national food policy discussion, that Scotland’s food production capacity, including our ability to produce the quality red meat that consumers want to eat, needs to be secured if the Scottish Government’s laudable aspirations are to have a real chance of succeeding.”
