Print This Page Infertility Problems with Vaccine Denied
UK - One of the UK's leading bluetongue experts has moved to quash rumours that the vaccine is causing infertility problems in sheep on the continent.Dr Chris Oura, bluetongue expert at the Institute for Animal Health, said there was no evidence to support it.
“I have been to many conferences on bluetongue around the world and I have never seen any evidence that an inactivated vaccine like we are using here in the UK can cause infertility problems.
“It is important to separate rumour from fact because these rumours can be damaging and put farmers off vaccinating, but I am convinced from a scientific point of view the bluetongue vaccine we are using is safe.”
